March, spring is just around the
corner. I just hope that I can survive another year, sometimes the loneliness
creeps in and it hard to get rid of it. Most times my kids Emma and Luke can
take it away. There are a couple of their friends who we consider family,
namely Katie, Olivia and Lesley. They are all good kids very respectful and are
genuinely good kids.
This past weekend was the Groove
Dance Competition that was held in The Collins Center at Andover High School.
Emma was performing in two numbers with Olivia and the rest of the Emerald
Team. First was a number called Muave, Muave .
it was a great Latin number and they did very well. The only thing that
I noticed was that Olivia seemed to get upset half way through the dance. She
went from all smile (which is her natural state) to a look of concern. I didn’t
notice anything wrong with the dance but near the end I saw a small tear in her
tights just near the knee. This is what had upset her natural smile.
Sometimes I think that these girls
put a lot of pressure onto themselves to seek perfection. The dance was spectacular
and I was proud of them. Next came their
Tap number Singing in the Rain. I got to say this, Emma has grown leaps and
bounds at this new dance studio, Darcy’s Dance Academy. She seems to be happy
here and they push her to do her best and it truly shows. Plus she has true
friends dancing with her and that goes along way. The only problem that I
noticed was that one of the girls umbrellas turned inside out. This had
happened to Olivia at the Darcy’s Dance Showcase but what can you do. I guess when
you are dancing your heart out, little things happen.
To be honest I enjoyed this day very
much. I saw a lot of great dancing and awesome costumes. I am so proud of the
girls. The only down thing to this day was that Katie wasn’t there. She decided
that her plate was too full to participate on dance team. She did high school
volleyball and basketball. She is taking a class with Emma and they are going
to do a duo at the recital in June. But I know that she missed being with her
friends. I kept her up to date via Twitter in what was happening and how her
arch rival was doing but I know deep down inside she was sad.
I am so glad that Emma has friends
like Olivia and Katie, hopefully they will remain friends forever. I know what it’s like to have old friend from
your formative years. Jocelyn Colena was the love of my life and we lost contact.
But about 10 years ago we found each other again and she has been a close
friend to me ever since. My kids adore her and so do I. I still have my friends
from college and they are my true brothers and sisters. I can always count on
Barney, Yvonne, Jay and Peter to be there when I need them. Barney is the one I
would call to help me “Hide The Body”. I really don’t know what I would do
without these people in my life.
